Get Honest About Where You Are

When he came to himself…
Luke 15:17 (ESV)

Luke 15 places us in the story of a younger son who leaves home, wastes what he’s been given, and ends up in a place he never imagined. The text says he is feeding pigs, starving, and finally waking up to the truth about his condition.

It begins with the brutal honesty of standing in his pig pen and calling it what it is. The turning point is not emotion. It’s awareness. God’s gift of honest self-awareness is like a GPS for the soul, a GPS for the spirit, showing you exactly where you are so you can finally plot the course towards where you need to be.

If the young man “came to himself,” it means he had been going around living outside of himself. Life can pull you so far from your center that you start accepting what you once would have rejected. You get used to less. You normalize compromise. You tolerate a life that keeps shrinking.

But by God’s mercy, this son had an awakening. How about you?

Stop treating less-than-better like it’s okay. Wake up and use your internal GPS to move back toward God.

The moment you can say “I’m lost” with complete honesty is the same moment you become findable.
